Prior to 1979, cabinet refacing involved covering all existing surfaces with Formica, or plastic, or brad nailing 1/4″ wood. It was in that year that Jeff McDuffe, owner of Mcduffe’s Wood Fronts in Chicago, and generally regarded as the foremost authority in the refacing field, introduced the real wood veneering system used by most refacers today. In 1985 he was able, with the help of chemical engineers, to perfect the cohesive veneering system that Wood Front of Central Illinois began in 1987. Since then, we have installed well over 3,000 kitchens in the central Illinois area we serve.
